.....IF she had worked on her humility.

That let her down. Therefore, it's difficult to answer as I feel I need to say she was the best and the worst dependant on where you are coming from.

From what I have read she didn't do humility, "snobbish condescension" one quote I have seen.

The Thatcher government inherited a nation and an economy where millions lived in state subsidised homes, worked in state subsidised jobs and could look forward to a state subsidised retirement.

They wanted to change the outlook, futures and aspirations of those millions.

They did that, but sometimes it's hard to think that things now are necessarily much better.

At the time Mrs T came to power. The UK was in desperate need to regeneration. Double digit inflation, poor Government finances, powerfull unions holding the country to ransom for unjusitfied pay rises. Japan was taking the leading the way in manufacturing process and new management styles. The IRA were planting bombs on the UK mainland.

Unless you were there in the 70's. Difficult to explain how different the country is today.

How we could do with a Churchill or Mrs T today. As the problems faced aren't just going to disappear. They need tackling head on.

Probably more to do with the fact it was no longer funny the last couple of years before it was pulled.

She must have been some women, to put it in perspective when Churchill died the eulogies were delivered in 45 minutes, Mrs T's lasted hours after it was deemed necessary to recall parliament with expense bills of circa £4k per MP.
