How easy is it to sell without an Estate Agent?

We are looking to sell our house but it is not yet on the market. Someone we know has approached us with a view to buying it and if both parties were to go ahead with the sale, how could it be done? please?
Loving the dtd thread. x

Agree a price and exchange details of your respective solcitors and get them both communicating with each other.

As a conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful but I accept no liability except to fee-paying clients

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

Agree a price, exchange solicitor details .. and they take it from there

Best way is to get one of you to type up a letter

    Property address

    Agreed price

    Seller Details

    Sellers Sols

    Buyers Details

    Buyers Sols

give all 4 parties a copy

obviously with no agent you will want to be be keeping eye that buyer is progressing with any survey/ mortagge application

Thanks for all the advice, Payless that is particularly helpful.
Hopefully (crossed fingers) if it all comes about then I will have to start looking for somewhere new for us to live.

Important that a good solicitor is used to keep track of buyers mortgage though.

It takes time and resources given the site's size
