SNP want to keep the pound AND the BOE as a lender of last resort

They could try printing their own money and pegging it to the pound. Of course they would need vast GBP reserves to maintain that.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0

Why are any of you remotely concerned by this nonsense.
You may as well discuss whether Unicorns should be able to use the same currency as Fairies, and whether the Leprechauns pot of Gold will be used by LOLR.
Independence simply ain't going to happen.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I still can't believe that there's going to be an independence referendum with so little information. Regardless of what people think of the idea of Scottish independence it isn't fair that they are having to vote on it without any idea what that actually means.
At the same time I can understand the position of the current Westminster government. How can it negotiate on behalf of one part of its constituents against another? It's a massive conflict of interest.
Really there should be a two stage process. In 2014 the Scottish vote on whether they want the terms of independence defining, if they do then a mechanism to do this would be put in place and then in perhaps 2016 a vote on the terms decided could be held.
In some ways the current single poll is better for those who don't want independence because risk of the unknown comes into play. If the conservatives, labour etc all thought defining the terms better would make people less keen then I think we'd see more effort to do it.Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. You cannot influence the vote on here Hamish, no matter how many times you post the same stuff 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

It seems likely that you're right. Polls seem to rest at about a balance of 3:5 quit:stay.0 -

He said in time he might want Scotland to join the Euro. Well, lets start off with one thing at a time shall we - how about in time Scotland join the EU?0 -

If the result is as much of a foregone conclusion as some people think then perhaps keeping everything so vague gives the nationalists a get out clause, allowing them to claim unsubstantiated scaremongering from the unionists influenced the vote?
A landslide 'no' vote by an electorate that knows all of the fact doesn't give the SNP any wriggle room at all. You can't see how they could recover from that.0 -

The polls show that he's right though.
I can post 100 times on here that the Tories aren't finished forever because of their current polling. It doesn't change a thing but I bet I'm right.0 -

If you don't know the facts and background then you would do the others here a favour by not making it up and acting like you do. Salmond, the SNP and the Scottish Parliament have all been asking for discussions regarding how the separation might happen. The government in Westminister has refused and said nothing of the sort can happen until after the referendum.
I want Scotland to want to stay in the UK but that doesn't mean that we should be making up nonsense to undermine the independence movement. Maybe even more Scots would want to be part of the UK if we talked more about the benefits and accomplishments we've gained from Union than incessantly insulting them by saying they can't make it on their own?Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature.
