Ok, so I am not the most creative person in the world and the title.... well, it's a list of some of the things I can start doing again :j I decided to start this diary so that I can look back in a year or 2 and see the progress and to help me stay motivated. I might just ramble though
A bit about me: I'm 33, just signed my divorce papers!!! (can't wait for my anti-hen night party - WOOHOO) We were married for nearly 10 years, but oh well, things happen. C'est la vie!
I am currently in £11,444 worth of debt  How the hell did that happen. The biggest single creditor is Lloyds TSB which is my overdraft (£3000). But I do have 14 creditors, 10 of which a pay day lenders :mad::mad: Yes, I was stupid, but I am getting myself out of this.
I have never been good with money. My problem is that I was spoilt! If I ever got into trouble I'd call the parents. But I have decided that I need to grow up and take some responsibility, hence me doing things to change my situation. They don't know about the mess I am in. I prefer to keep it that way. Their solution would be to bail me out and then I would NEVER learn my lesson, so I want to do this the hard way.
So in the one week since my LBM I set up a new bank account. Changed my DDs. And set up my DMP with Step Change. I am feeling sooooo positive about this move. All of the creditors have responded positively.
I love running marathons. I love the adrenaline rush and the feeling of clearing my head.
I plan to look back at this and be proud of myself!!! :T

Good luck with your debt busting and the diary.
I remember your first post and the difference in just a week is amazing. You're so positive and pro-active - a real inspiration to others struggling with debt.
I'm not sure about you loving marathons - if you keep up this pace, your debt-busting will be more of a sprint.:rotfl:0 -

Feeling a tad bit panicky today
Just worried about Monday (I get paid on Monday) and I have asked that SC not contact my bank for 6 weeks for me to sort my DD out and also inform work of the change of bank, but have not had any confirmation from SC yet. I am just worried because I read that banks can use the offset rule (I owe £3000 in an OD to my bank)
Other than that, all is well in my DMP journey. DMP is now set up. First DD coming out on the 1st May. All creditors are happy
Oh and today was the first day I had NO private number phonecalls and silly texts!!! Coincidence that it is the day after my DMP is officially set up!?
No need to change my number now!!! LBM March 2013 DFD August 2016

So today was D day! Or rather - PAY DAY!!! I was VERY nervous and was waiting up for midnight so that I could transfer my money into my new account. I checked my balance last night at about 10pm and my salary was in! So I proceeded to transfer the money (minus all the DDs that are due to come out of the account that I have not managed to change yet due to the dates etc. Insurance etc NOT DDs for my debt)
I checked my account 10 minutes later and noticed that Littlewoods have taken £189.95 which was the DD, but not one of the DDs that I left the money in for. However, I did send them a letter of authority telling them that I was with SC and they agreed to put a hold on my account. I was livid!!!
This morning I checked the account again and 2 PDLs had taken their money too, even though BOTH of them agreed to hold my account for 30 days while they waited for SC to be in contact.
I then proceeded to email them forwarding their original email and the fact that they agreed and seemed quite sympathetic. When I first contacted my creditors, ALL of them responded positively.
Within 30 minutes I received an apology from one of the PDLs and a refund to my account straight away!!!
I called Littlewoods and they apologised and did see the note on their system. They advised me to call the bank and ask for an Indemnity Form to be filled in. That's now done and I was told that the money will be in my account tomorrow.
Haven't heard from the other PDL.
So all in all, it turned out quite positively. At first I panicked, then thought of various ways of getting extra money. But then I decided to stand firm and write to them and explain that this was not part of the agreement. I was left in the same situation in which I have found myself many times over the years. Enough is enough and I will continue to fight to be debt free.
Yes, this is my debt and I am 100% committed to paying it off in full!!! I will not shy away from my responsibilities. What would have normally left me crying and asking myself why me, has made me stronger. I am thankful that I am trying t deal with my debt! :jLBM March 2013 DFD August 2016
