living in france can I still make a claim?

Hi, firstly........ I wondered if anyone has moved abroad and had a successful claim on their bank charges in the uk?
I moved to france in November last year for health reasons (less stress, less infections, less bills) but due to having an overdraft and a loan I have my small pension still paid into the RBS account in the UK, hoping to pay it off but due to the continuing charges it never seems to go down.
and secondly.........
I mentioned claiming back some of the charges to some english neighbours, 1 of whom used to work in a bank and she said legally I cant keep the account open because I no longer reside in the uk? is this true?
thanks to anyone who can advise me

On what basis are you hoping to reclaim bank charges?
Living beyond your means is no reason to request a refund.
Presumably you have informed your bank of your current address?0 -
Hi thanks for replying. I am hoping to reclaim them on the basis of hardship. I guess I am living beyond my means but then anyone in debt is I would think. I am trying to live on as little as I can and leave enough money in the bank to pay off some of the debts i incurred when I first became ill. Its impossible due to the constant charges I am paying each month for the loan I took out to pay off some of my original debt and then the charges I now incur from the overdraft that never seems to go down. I am just struggling to try to get my debts sorted out but after 12 months of really scrimping on food which is damaging my health further I am willing to try anything to get out of it, what have I to lose.... nothing! I have already lost everything, my house, my health, my self worth....the uk government didnt say thanks for working the last 35 years and paying your taxes and Nt ins - they just piled on the stress and made my illness worse whilst trying to get me back into work as soon as possible.
I havent changed my bank details, they are still at my sisters address in the uk, purely because I didnt know how long i would be in france, my health has improved a little but if it hadnt then I wouldve had to return to the uk, I thought I would just take each day at a time and at least try to get some life back.
hope this answers your question and hope someone can at least give me some advice please??0 -

My advice would be to speak to your bank and advise them of your current address
