Sorry, we aren't living in a Nazi state. If somebody wishes to express a view on bank charges and today's decision, then why shouldn't they as long as they are not abusive or insulting?0 -

As for free banking...that's all gone now. I'm already paying a monthly maintenance charge at the Natwest now that the charges have been lowered for things.
Change banks. I'm with Smile and I don't pay charges.0 -

Thanks you for your comments. My point is that most (not all, most) claims for repayment of bank charges are not for unfair charges, but fair charges that were clearly stated in their T&Cs for unauthorised borrowing. Therefore I will continue to post, but feel free to ignore, I'll try not to be offended.0 -
Sigh!
Look guys, s**t happens. We all know this, it is no surprise, we don't always get what we want....
Suggestion:
SUMO ("Shut UP, Move On").
Cheers!

He makes a better point than you. Lets see if your singing the same song when banks bring in there charges next year anyway.
Even if they do, they will be lower than if they had to recoup 100's of millions in repayment of unauthorised overdraft fees.
Go on then, enlighten us. Why were the penalty fees you incurred not your responsibility?0 -

I don't need to explain this to you. Your views are not helpful on this forum. You should find a forum that is all for bank charges. Let me ask you this , your saying people getting charged is basically there own fault for not managing there money very well , then why is it that some banks have had to have government help with tax payers money because they aren't too good with money either, Whats the difference.......?? So the consumers get punished while we have to help out the banks.
Firstly, this is a forum for money saving. The point I have made repeatedly today is that we can all save money by avoiding high charges from banks by managing our money, budgeting and being aware. This is completely in alignment with the aims of MSE.
The majority (not all, but most) of people who incur penalty charges for taking unauthorised overdrafts do so because of bad planning/ignorance/care-free attitude. And so they have to pay penalties at the rate already agreed on their T&Cs. Why should the banks re-imburse for this?
Banks are PLCs - their ultimate success or failure depends on share price, a completely different situation. I am not surprised that you have money-management issues if you ask questions like this.0
