"I paid £XX.XX back in [MONTH] [YEAR] as I was told this would clear the balance due plus all accrued interest to date. I was assured that no further interest would accrue and the matter would be settled.

I had no idea any further balance remained unpaid as I trusted what I was told by your staff at the time and acted on that information in good faith.

Please therefore remove any adverse credit markers and charges relating to the amount of £X.XX which I had no idea remained unpaid."

The second £X.XX should be the amount of the initial charge added to your account.

I take no credit for the letter as somebody on another site I post on suggested writing with this and it worked. :)

There are two main differences with your case and mine: -

    1) The balance unpaid on mine was only £1.26. They may have simply decided it wasn't worth an argument for the low balance.
    2) I paid in the remaining balance plus the correct amount of interest.

I'm still hopeful you might get a similar result though.

    Good luck!

Hiya, thank for that so much!

I just logged onto my Halifax online banking to see if they had added anything else and actually found that ... they had refunded all the charges! I am gobsmacked, I have actually taken a screen print incase they change their minds!

Thank you all so much for your help!
