access the google play app or webstore if it's not pre-installed on the tablet ???

Android noob here, and it seems that unless your device is listed on the google play website as being certified compatible, you can't access the play store ?? Or am I reading it wrong ??

Play store rules have been tightened up .
Best bet would be to try to side load the Google Play app .
Suggest find a forum for the tablet you have or find an Android general forum for the app .

so you just download a google play APK file, open it on the tablet, and away you go ?? Will you then be able to log in with an existing google account, or will it not let you as it's not "official" ??

ok, tried that, it downloaded, installed and started, but then error message "play store stopped working" and it closes the app down..... is it this hit'n'miss on all bar the google "sacred few" tablets listed on their website ??

thanks, but yes, one of several.... xda-dev doesn't even recognise the tab make/model...

however, that particular one is going back, it won't hold time/date info...

    ...but the generic question remains......

I've not succeeded in what you're trying to do either - doesn't mean it can't be done I suppose, but there are other Android app stores available, although Play is the best I've come across...

Its not a Scroll brand device is it?

There are heavily modified versions of the Play store app around that may work as well as other 'enhancements' I use the Mobilism site a lot for resources, its worth registering there as it enables you to search easier. (The Mobilism site is partly down currently due to DNS problems but no doubt will be fixed in due course, can be accessed still via its IP http://93.114.44.238/ )
