Item SNAD? How to resolve?

I purchased a high end set of speakers from a seller who stated that they were in near perfect condition having been purchased in Australia. When I received a message saying they had been posted, the seller mentioned that there was a loose join which they had used sellotape on to hold it together. There was no reference to this in the original listing and this made me a little concerned as to whether there would be any other issues that had not been mentioned.

The speakers arrived today with Australian wiring and plug and the loose join also means a loose connection on some wiring.

If I return the item, I stand to lose a fair bit in terms of return postage, but am I right in classiing this item as SNAD?

I am willing to sort out the loose join and connection myself, but to enable me to use these safely, I will have to purchase UK power pack for them. Is it reasonable to ask the seller to bear the cost of this additional purchase?

Am I being reasonable and what would you do in these circumstances?
Thank you in advance.

Buying from a different country really means you should assume the item being sold is relevant to that country, unless it says to the contrary. Just because you are from the UK doesn't mean the goods should be suitable to that market.

If you sold an electrical appliance in the UK you would expect the buyer to know it will have a 3 pin plug and be 220-240v. If the buyer from USA bought it and complained, it would not be a snad, despite those facts being omitted as it would be 'assumed' that would be the case.

The sellotaped wiring is a separate issue.

SNAD will mean you pay to return it tracked.

I got the impression OP purchased from a UK seller. The seller had purchased the speakers previously outside of the UK.

If seller didn't stipulate it wasn't a UK plug he's a bit naughty...

Yes, it was a UK based seller I purchased it from who had previously purchased it in Australia.
I think that not mentioning it had a non-UK plug is not mentioning a material fact and I would have bid much, much lower if I had know this.
Anyone have any views as to whether what I propose regarding the powerpack is reasonable, should I leave negative feedback or return the item and remain £16 out of pocket for the return postage?

You would expect this item to have a UK plug unless it specifically said they were Australian, then the seller should have stipulated.

Have you spoken with the seller? You should always give them an opportunity to respond and rectify.

I agree. Op contact the seller explain that this was not as expected and point out the omissions from the listing, tell them you expect to return them for a full refund.

Decide what to do once you have their response.
