Food- they need very high quality protein food-specialist ferret food or high quality kitten food. I used to buy ours on special offer in the supermarket. Some ferrets will eat fresh food , some won't-especially pet ferrets. For a hutch the best ones to get are rabbit hutches because they are big enough, some ferret owners buy a shed and fix a run to it. I have to admit that ours lived upstairs in the spare bedroom and had the run of the house-but ferrets are addicted to risk so this isn't always a good idea. Don't bother with bought toys-they like old jumpers and sweatshirts, being swung around in bags , throwing themselves off stairs, balls (little cat ones)-good toys are offcuts of plastic pipes, sliding around in the bath (when it's empty). I could go on , they are nature's clowns. Ours used to love playing with the cats and our pet rats (
sounds bizarre but they used to be best friends). Beware outside hutches because they can easily open the latch. They also like going for a walk on a harness. Fabulous creatures ,but an awesome responsbility as they are intelligent and funny and forceful and have no sense of danger.
