Selling laptops

I have two laptops that I want to sell on Ebay. Both need repairs, one needs the socket for mains cable replaced and the other, which I'm using now, has keys that won't type. I use a combination of keyboard and on-screen keyboard.
Should I pay to get them repaired and get the hard disc wiped or sell as 'repair or spares' and remove hard disk.

i would remove hard drive and in title and description put spare or repair then in description list what is wrong with them and be as honest as possible.
also make a note of serial numbers0 -
If you had repairs done how much would they then be worth ?
How much do you think they are worth broken ?

Not sure what they'd be worth fixed but I'm unable to do it and would have to pay someone to fix which would probably wipe out most of the profit.0 -
I see loads of these at car boots. The sellers have ripped out the drive along with the caddy and connectors, little realising that the caddy and connectors are often worth more than the original laptop. Especially on the older models, i.e ones more than 3 years old, as these are now not available except from people who have removed them from another similar laptop.
Ditto laptop keyboards - these are often a DEVIL to replace, being difficult to remove and cable fitting is a real test of patience. Replacement keyboards are also a favorite sale for laptop breakers.
And do not get me started on replacing the screens....

Sell it as SPARES OR REPAIR, someone will want it for its bits. Trust me, I sold several a few years ago to Laptop breakers who strip them down and sell the components onto suckers who think that they can repair a lappy they bought at a carboot and use itI am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
Guaranteed repairs can be had from about £65 inclusive ...... look up what price the laptops are selling for working .... do the sums, then decide on what's the most beneficial.

I would expect that you get more for them at the end of the day while 'spares and repairs' with the defect properly described, than having them sold after the repairs. There are enough people who are happy to repair it themselves (which saves them the labour cost).
I would advice to take the hard drives out or wipe them (while in an external usb caddy) with a special program (e.g. eraser, etc.)0 -
I have done several. Takes 10-30 minutes. It takes more time to order the new keyboard (never had to order a second hand one)SpammyTheSpammer wrote: »Ditto laptop keyboards - these are often a DEVIL to replace, being difficult to remove and cable fitting is a real test of patience.
