Need help Please

Hi,
Im desperately looking for advice on this company Golden Selection Promotions. A couple of years ago i got sucked into attending one of these tours which lasted for ages, anyway i told them i wasnt interested. Now i keep getting different holiday companies ringing me and doing my head in. Back to this company they phoned me a couple of days ago offering me 1 weeks holiday then offered me another week as well. Being a polite person i told the man i wouldnt be going on holiday due to ill health, he replied no problem i wont put a sell by date on it.(tried to get out of it and couldnt). Next he asked for my credit card details which i told him i wasnt prepared to give over the phone especially because i wasnt buying anything from him. He then replied he couldnt take money off my card without the 3-digit number which i never gave him. received a letter today stating that 440euros had been takin for registering and activating the promotion. Checked my statement and about £300 was taken from my credit card which at present i cant afford to pay out. Does this company have the right to take this money? i havent even signed anything.

please someone help as i dont know what to do

Call the credit card company and say you are in dispute.

I guess it is important that, at the same time as involving the credit card company, you also inform the holiday company (in writing and by registered / signed for letter!) that you a) never agreed to a purchase and b) in any case make use of your right to cancel under the distance selling directive.

I am pretty sure the dsd would apply to sales over the telephone; it basically gives you a short cooling-off period (a week or two or so). However, don't delay over this.

just phoned the credit card company and they cancelled my card, also they are sending out forms for me to fill in. Tried phoning gsp and guess what it keeps going onto answerphone.
