Hi Everyone,
I am doing the wedding buffet for a friend and am wondering if anyone has seen dishes/bowls that would be suitable to display sweets in if we were to do a sweet buffet ?
Thanks in advance

I would think that charity shops might be a good place to start.0

Agree with fatblackandwhite - Definitely charity shops or a town market - alternatively I'm sure IKEA would be a good place to go if you want something new?0

Ikea do indeed sell sweetie jars as do places like asda....and I suppose it depends what kind of "look" you want from your sweetie table....
Some of the best ones ive seen have indeed been in the vintage style where the dishes have either been bought very cheeply from charity shops or even donated by members of the family....usually in the back of a cupboard an auntie or a gran will pull a beautiful crystal dish or plate that when they are put together with the sweets provide a lovely family feel to the receptionfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Some good ideas . We have thought today about doing an individual jar for each child , perhaps in a small jam jar with their name on. Has anyone been to a wedding where they have had a sweet buffet ? Do the adults eat them too ?0 -
Afitos I'm very interested to read they replies to your above questions DN is getting married August 2014, I somehow got the title wedding planner!! I've been picking suitable jars up when I see them in preparation
last one was B&M £2.99 I will try and find a photo online to post.

We did something similar to this but a bit more refined. Lots of creams and pinks and a bit vintage to match the wedding. You might get some ideas from here. We went to a wholesale sweet company to save money. Also made quite a few sweets ourselves, hope this helps.Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

We are having a sweetie buffet for our wedding in July, which will be mostly adults. A few weddings I've been to in the last few years have had the mini jars of sweets as favours and place cards, with little brown tags tied around the top with brown string, and they have been nice - they sell some of these little jars in Ikea, and I've also seen them in a 99p/pound shop.
We have got our glass ware from a variety of places; some from Ikea, Tesco, BHS has some of the old fashioned jars similar to Nanamania has posted but in different sizes; also Matalan had some filled jars at Christmas last year which were on a good special offer and had good dates on them, so think we've got about 6 of them!!
Car boot sales are also a good place to look; managed to get a couple of big glass bowls from one a while ago for not too much money.
I have also seen jars similar to the one Nanamania has posted in the 99p Store, although at that price they may not have them for very long, but worth a look if you have one locally.MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
Ooooh Laura I haven't got any 99p shops yet can't wait til they get up to Manchester
Had a quick look on Ebay and there are sets of assorted plastic ones on there (and some very beautiful - although expensive ones) Just thought that if you were expecting little ones to help themselves it might be a good idea to have plastic jars within their reach. XThe secret of Christmas
