Warning/Vent : Currys/PC World "Whatever Happens"

Yesterday I purchased a TV from Curry's

The sales person was polite, how ever when the Manager offered me a discount, it was NOT explained to me that they were setting up a direct debit going forward which would have charged my debit card on a monthly basis. All that was said was “Your getting 3 months free Whatever Happens”

All you see is a charge and a Direct Debit mandate as a small line on your receipt. I find this to be poor selling practice, as I have always found, the Sales Person online and instore, can say whatever they like to you at the time. And when you question, they say something else, you feel like WE the consumer should now record these conversations.

So after two phones call today to DSG customer services, they were unable to put me thru to the store to resolve my dispute, so I had to re-visit the store and request for this to be cancelled.

When I explained to the sales person that he DID NOT tell me there were going to be further charges to my debit card, he basically said “ yes I did “, basically calling me a liar.

Why would I personally waste my time, fuel and energy phoning and revisiting the store to cancel something.

Why is it staff argue with customers. In my view it is better to apologise and move on. and sometimes an apology keeps the consumer happy, and keeps the customer going back.

This is my experience, and I am sure there are some great people who work within DSG, but this experience, has made me not want to shop there again.

Sorry DSG - Bad Experience

I created this thread nearly a week ago, and as of this post.

Currys have not replied to my complaint.

Amazing how bad service has now got here in the UK from large companys.

Hope others are made aware to read the small print...

I thought that currys/pc world (and the defunct comet) were renown for offering bad service - perhaps that's one of the reasons why comet went bust.

A story I heard from somebody that worked for comet - an elderly lady and her husband went into the store to complain about a product they had bought. The manager got involved and the elderly lady ended up bursting into tears. When the couple left the store, the manager turned to the assistant and said "That's how you deal with complaints". I've never forgotten that story.

It seems to me that where companies have CEOs and Senior Finance Officers, they should also have a CXO (Chief Experience Officer) who's role it is to champion exemplary customer service.
