Quick update here. Have been told by MB today that Halifax are contacting my accountant today, to confirm what exactly I'm not sure. Will contact accountant tomorrow for further details. Does anyone know if this is normal I would have though they'd be able to get all details if required via MB. Does this mean that my application is with underwriter now?

Any ideas would be great, thanks.

Yeah it's the underwriter who would of requested it, we are in same position the underwriter contacted my partners work to confirm the info we gave them matched our employers but in your case it's your accountant it's normally final stages when they ask for this we are expecting an answer in the morning...

Have you also applied with Halifax? When did they contact your employers?

Yeah I'm trying with Halifax, they contacted my partners employers yesterday with some questions by fax asking to confirm his start date if he is in full-time employment his salary hourly rate, they told us today that everyfn was fine just waiting on an approval which I was told they have all the info they need & they will get back to me in the morning... So if your accountant confirms what you have already told the bank you should be fine but I'm not 100% sure what sort of questions they will ask your accountant as your self employed... The Halifax have new systems and they have been asking a lot of people for employee income reference....

Thanks for the info. That's good news. Hope everything works out for you and you receive your offer soon, please do keep us posted on this thread with your updates. Has your valuation survey been done/booked in yet? My MB has told me this is normally done in the last stages (but others have had it done before approval). From what your saying do you think we will get approval then and have an offer soon? (if everything checks out with the accountants - which is should), otherwise they would have rejected the application before this stage rather than contacting accountant for further info maybe? ... I really hope so

If everything has been okay so far & if your info matches what your accountants say I shouldn't see why not u have clearly passed the credit check ur mortgage pretty much relies on your employee reference & affordability, we didnt need a survey they got a copy of home report almost straight away, it has took us almost two weeks to get mortgage sorted with Halifax taking forever we are applying for a mortgage with 10% deposit.... I would get ur accountants to call you when they receive your employee reference & make sure it's filled out correct so there is no more delays...

OK, will call the accountant tomorrow. How come your application has been delayed? Did you apply directly or through a Broker?

I stupidly went through a call center for my mortgage as my partner works offshore we did not have time to go to a mortgage adviser but wish we did...my partner also had two defaults to take into consideration slowed things down... good luck.. i will let you know how i get on the day :)
  • Hi all,

I made my application on good friday. Unfortunately, my survey was done today after cancelling few survey due to shortage of staff.

Money was taken on the spot without any delay. my broker has returned with to provide proof of savings, working hours. I have savings from under my parents pillow, which was dumped in as a big lump sum every few months like 6k sometimes 10k. It does worry me as they want to know where I got the money from. I have told them everything and got letter from parents to proof that it was gifts given as it was part of money laundering service.

It is upsetting that they are dragging on. Everytime I call Broker or the bank, its always last step away.
I am on the stage for underwriters to make decision. Apparently everyone has to go through them and will hear from them in a week.

All in about a months to get a response. Off course, if its a decline then lost about £500 inc fee and valuation.

PS: I do have high experian score and never had late payment. I was always good with my money and paid everything off. Yet till today have few credit card with balance

It is frustrating as there is a long waiting game plus its your money they are playing with!
