IE problems

I have IE installed and it's the newest version, however a lot of websites are telling me my browser is out of date and to download.

I have done this several times and always told that I have the latest version, so why is this not recognised when I'm online. It's very frustrating.

I also use Chrome, but would also like IE, any ideas please..

Is it definitely your browser that's out of date?
    What's the exact message?

Standby for a long queue of people telling you IE is a pile of poo these days. Personally I gave up on it for many reasons and use Chrome all the time now and just don't have any problems anymore. I wouldn't bother with IE as you will just get issue after issue.

While IE isn't my browser of choice (I use Firefox) I don't have any problems with the people who do.
Most people will probably say to switch browsers but as the OP is having difficulty with IE and wants to continue using it, that's their choice and people should be assisting with the issue and not suggesting alternatives.

When I go onto certain websites it tells me that my browser needs updating, consequently many pages are restricted and when I log in on chrome there aren't any problems.

I like having 2 browsers as I can access some sites twice, like ebay. I can have two accounts open at the same time with out conflict.

Can you post a link to a site you're having problems with?
I'm running IE8 (I'm at work) and I'll see if that throws any errors out for me.

I'm using the latest IE10 on Windows 7 Ultimate and haven't encountered any problems at all yet. Loving it.

I keep getting told on youtube that my IE browser is out of date and yet I have the latest available version of IE8

You are using an outdated browser, which YouTube no longer supports. Since some features on YouTube may not work, you are viewing a lightweight version of the video page.

  • I have had these same issues with my dad.

by any chance is it sites such as YouTube/secure login sites such as online banking where you are finding the issues? From my research a couple of months back it seems that sites such as these were reducing their support for IE. This meant that my dad couldn't get the "full" experience on youTube or similar sites.

It's potentially about some of the ways that they updates sites and code which means that there won't be a way around this. For my dad it means that he now uses IE for everything and then switches to Chrome when he runs into issues.

Not the most practical solution but it does seem some sites are reducing support of IE

  • Sorry just saw your last message.

think of it this way - Google owns Youtube, Google owns Chrome... Google wants you to use their products...therefore they cease full functioning support for a competitor!
