Facebook.... advertising? (Or Survey)

Hi all,

I can't see anywhere more suitable to post this thread, so here it be. I'm hoping there are a few Facebook aficionados around. What I want to do is...

Create a survey, or poll, on Facebook, that targets a specific age range in a specific area to hopefully get some insight into an idea I have. I'm assuming this will cost money, which is fine.

I know I can create a Page and then "Create an Advert", and I know I can target a specific age and area, but as this is only an idea there is no page, so I'd be targeting... no one.

Googling "Facebook Advertising Surveys" is unhelpful and is a long list of critiques.

As I type this I have stumbled across http://www.surveygizmo.com/survey-blog/facebook-survey-respondents/ which seems to be what I want, but I don't quite understand the Destination URL part, as I don't want to link it to anything. I also wonder where the responses would be sent to.

If anyone can help I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Op.

This is one I haven't heard of, however we have run several polls, which I'd have thought would be similar.

Is this what you're on about? (See below, it's one the company ran in 2010) If so, it's free, and the results are published publicly.

Thanks for the reply. Something like that, yes, although I wouldn't want the results to be public.

I'm sure it can be tweaked, although I'm not sure how.

It's supposed to work by you sharing it to your friends, them sharing it, etc etc etc. We've had a few upto 1m+ votes, so it's a system that does work.
