i was told i only needed a telephone interview,i asked for face to face. they were fine about it. my brother suggested it as he said i could explain myself better. i took somebody with me. the examiner was fine did everything she could to ease it. she never ate me or once told me off. in fact she dealt with the part she knew was worrying the most first. i burst into tears as i was so relieved, she then went and got me tissues and a glass of water :) honestly they dont bite and i bet your be relieved when its over. i went br june 2011 cant believe its now 2013. best of luck :)

I had a face to face with an OR many years ago over being insolvent while running a pub, we owned it, it was not brewery. We had no idea we were insolvent, and that is far worse than yours is. The OR was lovely, I was quaking in my boots, but he really was a nice man.

I do know what you are going through, my husband had walked out and left me and I tried to struggle on and run the pub and restaurant and failed badly, but this guy said he understood, and I was obviously no accountant and had not even realised I was breaking the law.

They are human, do not put the hearing off, get it over and done with. I was not facing bankruptcy though as ours was under a limited company name, we had actually sold the pub, it was so long ago now I cannot even remember why we got called to see the Official receiver, I think it was due to it being found that the company we had the pub under was insolvent.

I wish you the very best of luck. Try to get some sleep.

Please dont worry, it really isnt that bad. They are very understanding. Just get as much help and advice that you can. Do you have an accountant, are they able to help in any way?

The OR probably not let you speak for him but they are usually fine with someone sitting in with him as the other posters have attested.

Please make sure you get in touch with Business Debtline, Pippa posted the link earlier in the thread.
