I think they have restored the old captcha method

Does everyone know about this? Remember in the good old days when you only had to type one of the two captcha words? Then they changed it so that you had to type both words, or rather one word right and then anything for the second word.

Well, I think they've changed it back again. I've just done a week's worth of ITV comps and early on I hit the enter button by mistake too early, but my entry went through. So I did all the rest with just typing the one word, as it used to be. It worked every time.

Sorry if this is old news and I just caught on late :D

It's been just the wavy word for a while now, so much easier :)

That's good to hear! Isn't it just the one in bold that you needed to type?

It's hard to explain, it's the one that is a bit messed up and wavy, but you can still read it. It doesn't have weird characters in it.The other word that you don't have to type can have strange characters or sometimes it's clear type, easy to read. Is that as clear as mud? Probably - sorry XXX

Has it always been this way, with only needing one? I only knew about this "trick" after seeing somebody here mention it a couple of weeks ago... the captcha form still *SAYS* enter both words, but was pleased to discover I can save that little bit of extra time on every form every day :D
  • A picture paints a thousand words :)

You only need to type ONE word in a proper RE-Captcha and its the word that looks like this (doesn't matter if its the first or second word).

I see the ITV ones have now gone back to a photograph of a house number.

Again, you do not need to enter this, just type the non photograph word which has worked 100% for me.
