There's a man here who does steam cleaning with a proper commercial steam cleaner, he's actually cheaper than a rug doctor hire and will be much more effective than a domestic steam cleaner and could do your whole flat in a couple of hours.

Worth a google to see if there's one near you and get a quote!

We had them last year and did a few google searches. The beetles themselves are easy enough to get rid of/kill but the larvae are near indestructable! I eventually found they were feeding on feathers from a birds nest in next doors guttering and getting into my loft. I did a massive clean. I bought some strong insecticides and sprayed the boarders of each of the rooms, vac bagged all clothes in storage and now dont leave any type of material out.

It only takes one to fly into your window in the spring/summer and to lay an egg, the year after you'll have a few and the year after that lots! They will go unnoticed until you have lots.

A one off steam clean will kill the beetle but may not kill all of the larvae lurking under furniture. Using a small domestic steam cleaner will probably not even do this. Sorry, but if you want to be sure you will need a full blown Rentokill type operation.
