Can you say exactly what happened.

    A) How did you transfer the money
    B) Is the person you sent it to a known friend or relative
    C) what was money for

You'll get better help if you post so that all can help, just don't put any identifiable info.

Sorry to say it does not sound good. You can't recall a bank transfer it will not be returned to you. The only way is if the seller returns it.

You said you were "helping them out". You can have the persons details but this will not help you get the money back. Why did you pay them more than you needed to?

There bank is frozen, I don't believe that one. I hope it turns out well for your sake but it does ring scam to me. Never use bank tranfer for buying you have no protection.
  • not friend or relative it was an online job, i have seen the job also on their fb page. It was selling concert tickets - due to ebay changing their regs in may, the person had recruited a few ebay sellers to get rid of tickets before the changes in may. sold via my fb paid into my paypal then transfered to my bank account and transfered to his.

It is quite common to use 3rd parties to sell goods on ebay these days.

    HEEELLLPPPP
  • also this person hasnt vanished off the planet they are still about, i had to provide screen shots of the transactions and sales for them to give to the bank to prove where the money had come from

Sorry but you can wave goodbye to your money- you have been scammed.

It will probably get worse as well, the people you sold the tickets to will receive nothing and will chargeback the payments you received. You will obviously have to refund them, so you lose the money entirely.

Really such an obvious scam, I can't think of anything at all to suggest that might work.

You gave some untraceable stranger a reasonable sum of money for a job?

OH DEAR!!!. Sorry but you need to expect the worst here and are unlikely to see them or your money again.
Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...

  • A well known scam ,used to be on Gumtree, come work for me, but firstly send me £500 I will then give you £1000 back to watch it for me for a friend, etc , and other strange roundabout back to front things....well known scams involve instant bank transfers and the police cannot get the money back cos you paid it willingly card owner present so no fraud took place, the person you gave money too was not a friend they were an internet contact on a facebook page and you have been conned. The bank will not help as it was not hacked without your knowledge.

You have lost the lot, trust no one online and never send money to a stranger on the web .

As others have said, wave bye bye to the money as the person who you sent it to will be long gone by now.

You can also expect fairly soon to have a number of chargebacks on your PayPal account when your buyers don't get their tickets.

Only when there is some sort of scam involved. There are plenty of these jobs advertised on the Freelance sites, usually selling popular goods such as iPhone/iPad at a fraction of the price. Funnily enough they all want you to send them the money before they will provide you a tracking id, to protect them from scammers.
