From what I believe some people exchange and complete on the same day so yes. Sure someone will be along with a longer and more informative answer shortly.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

As long as the solicitor requests any mortgage money in sufficient time, you can exchange and complete on the same day, or with a gap to suit the members of the chain.I am a mortgage broker. I've moved a few times and always did it on the same day. Imagine it would be even more stressful otherwise.0

Yes it is. Last house-move we had a day between exchange and completion on our purchase, but we exchanged on our sale two weeks before. Stressful as we did not know if we would have anywhere to live on the day we moved out of our old house, right up until just before. So I actually had a Travelodge booked, just in case
.
Not an ideal thing to do but with a very pushy buyer (who was a little bit unstable), and a seller that did a massive disappearing act halfway through (very unstable!), it was the only thing we could do to prevent our sale falling through.
One thing to note, some solicitors ask for an additional fee if exchange and completion are less than a week apart.....0 -
Yes it is possible, I completed and exchanged same day on the first property I ever brought. Just make sure of your intentions to the solicitor so they can let others in the chain know and be ready to request at mortgage funds and deposits0

Having a slight delay is best as you know on exchange that completion will follow naturally (if not then someone will be in schtum! and liable for it)..
The last move was supposed to exchange & complete the same day and (first time round..) but funds were not cleared from our buyer in time - so it didnt happen on the first attempt - which was a paid as had removal van booked.. but it didnt happen and no one was at fault... we then exchanged on the monday afternoon, for completion that friday - safe that all was in place beyond 'formality' of sols forwarding on the funds and advising when able to collect keys..0 -
Really:eek:
I can't imagine anything more stressful than not knowing until the last day if you were even moving at all.
This.
We've always preferred to have a week between exchange and completion - bought six times - especially more recently as we have literally tonnes of stuff. I'd absolutely hate to have to leave everything till the last minute, not knowing if it was going to happen or not.
OTOH, DS and his GF were FTBs in 2011 and did both in one day - but they were staying with friends prior to this so didn't have the worry of giving notice on a rental etc, so it worked out fine for themMortgage-free for fourteen years!
