My husband has registered his interest for a 3 bed house that also apparently has another couple of people interested the housing association will choose a successful applicant on the 19th, we love this house and are wondering how good a chance we have of being accepted, we currently live a couple of miles down the road our 2 children go to local school my husband works round the corner he took it upon himself to get a dip with 10% deposit but can go to 15% this is secured to prove he serious about this house and is credit worthy. Would this help the application is there anything else that can be done to make the housing association choose him, many thanks x

Has he made an application to the local HCA HomeBuy Agent, or has he made an application to the HA itself? Is it a newbuild, or a resale?
Normally, the applicant gets himself vetted in advance and can then look for the right property, subject to the parameters laid down in the offer letter.
The HBA/HA uses an affordability calculator to determine what portion of the property can be purchased, based on the applicant's situation.I am a mortgage broker. It's a resale already been accepted by moat then had to be vetted by their mortgage people who contacted moat to say the house was affordable and he could afford the 30% available and the rent it was only then that he was allowed to view the property which he liked and contacted moat to say he was interested they have said that closing date is the 19th and he'd put on the list and they would choose the most suitable candidate, xx0

He has got the dip from a mortgage broker that he's been in contact with for a while who is friendly apparently with the sales team at moat and said moat would be happy to have the mortgage through them and they then forwarded the dip to moat so they are aware of the dip x0
