Hi there,
As title says I am finally buying a nexus 7 but will also need a good sturdy case to protect it, maybe a lot like the Griffin type cases available for Ipad.
I have looked on amazon and a number of cases on there, but would like the opinion of what kind of case you think might suit my needs?
Thanks a lot.

John

I use a generic neoprene 7" bag which cost a few quid, the Nexus7 is a pretty robust device assuming you don't throw it around.0

Hi have a look at SD Tabletwear 'Type and Stand' Google Nexus 7 Case - £15.99p at Mobilefun - I got mine when they were cheaper but even at this price excellent value for money.
I'm on my mobile at present and can't post a link .0 -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008GEBFQK was what I bought. Very similar to what ballyblack posted.0

Hi, when I was researching for a case I found that although a lot look very similar the cheaper ones are made from a thinner material although this may not mean they are unsuitable.
Generally speaking the ones with a free stylus were flimsier.0 -
Because the Nexus has a touch screen and you 'swipe' things, I wanted a case that didn't have a wide 'frame' around the screen which would annoy me if it interfered with my swiping, lol. Quite a lot of the cases covered the screen edge, some quite markedly so.
Anyway, I eventually got a 'speck' case.

It holds the Nexus firmly round the edges without covering the screen. It also acts as a stand for hands free usage and has a clip to keep the case closed. Some cases just flip closed but there's nothing to keep them closed iyswim. It also has the instant on and off facility.
Very sturdy case and I haven't found any negatives with it.
It's dearer than some but you get what you pay for imo.Herman - MP for all!

Well after thinking for a while and not knowing what to buy without trying them out, I got the above case.
Its not a bad case but in two minds whether some of the other cases mentioned above would have given me a more comfortable hold when using the tablet, probably what I am looking for as well is good protection if the tablet in its case ever falls and if the case would absorb some of the shock.
I think I can return it but not sure if any of the alternative mentioned by the other posters would suit my needs better.
I thank all of you for all your help in this, and the cases that you mentioned.

For what it's worth, my Nexus has been dropped 3 times.
Unmarked and undamaged thankfully so the case must be doing something right.
