New home purchase and credit check via Halifax

We have seen a house we want to buy, having recently moved into rented accommodation after completing on our previous house sale. I rang the halifax yesterday to get an offer in principle so we can put in an offer etc and start the ball rolling. Unfortunately they declined us and my main assumption it is due to not being on the electoral roll at the rented accommodation (which we have now registered on line, signed the necessary forms and send them to our council yesterday.
Our LTV is only 32% and the total mortgage is less than our combined annual income of £90K and after we pay the deposit we would still have £50K in the bank
How long does it take for the electoral roll to be updated as we dont want them to do another check and fail that?
I have been given the underwriters address for the Halifax and advised to appeal, but time is off the essence as I want to offer on this house!

I have asked the Halifax to appeal again to the underwriters, and they have said there is nothing they can do but try again once we are on the electoral roll. The council will write us a letter to confirm they have processed us. I need a quicker solution than waiting three weeks for the electoral roll to be updated if there is one. Would it be of any benefit to go to a broker or visit a Halifax branch and see if a human can override the online credit check thing?
I would appreciate any help!:)0 -
No, as far as Im aware the only way to appeal the decision is to write to the underwriters. Branch staff cannot override the decision.0
