Trackers to trace stolen goods

I'm pretty sure trackers to trace stolen goods exist but can you get one to hide away in a laptop? If so how much would such a device cost?

Actual physical trackers are a bigger deal, they need to be connected to the battery, have active mobile network connectivity and GPS capabilities, and fit inside a box without any spare space. Technically I could probably make you one in an afternoon, but prey is better.
