Digital camera query

I have a Fuji Finepix 2300 with an ID 16MB memory card. I need more memory so bought a bargain SD 256mb card from Tesco. Can I actually use it in the camera, although the ID one looks bigger, so perhaps I'm answering my own question!

I'm going on holiday on Thursday and if I need to get another one I welcome any suggestions for purchasing the correct one on the High Street.

Is it a 2300 - thought these were SmartMedia (which are much bigger and thinner than SD). If it normally uses an xD card http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/fu/fuji-512mb-xd-card.jpg, SD won't fit. Will cost you more on the high-street - mail order price is around £13 per gb, Comet, Currys, Pc_world, Jessops etc will be almost 3 times that.


[edit] just re-read, sounds like SmartMedia as "it looks bigger" than SD - not sure if many high-street shops will still have these - they were dropping out around 4 years ago. Time to lose the camera. SmartMedia cards are not only hard to find, but they are expensive and very limited in size. 128MB is the maximum.

You could and should buy another camera instead of buying a SmartMedia card.
