Car Hire in Alicante in August - best prices please

Going to Spain in August for 9 days and want to pick a hire car up at Alicante airport and drop it back there.
Have found some really good prices using the car hire comparison sites, problem is I would prefer an automatic car and they seem to be double the price of the same car with a manual gearbox.
If anyone knows of any company where I can get a decent deal on this please let me know.
The quotes I'm getting are around the £200 mark for automatic and as low as £108 for a manual.

Wonder if their insurance claims experience on automatic cars is worse than on manuals?
It seems the only way you'll get much cheaper than that is with a Smart Car!!!0 -
https://www.atlaschoice.com has got a smart car for nine days for £108.13 hth0

Where have you got quotes from?
Had quotes from Holiday Autos, Avis and others I can't remember the names of. Just found the cheapest yet with Economy Car Hire (found it through https://www.carrentals.co.uk for £166, still a lot more expensive than the same car with manual gears.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Thanks for the help, unfortunately can't take advantage of the Smart car option as we need to seat 4 adults. Only 2 of us flying but visiting friends in Spain so need to fit us all in the car.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0

i have used carjet.com many times with no problems. They always come out cheaper than booking direct with a specific agent as thy act as a broker (or something like that)...What goes around... comes around...0
