Will MOT be OK with glued on door mirror?

This morning the mirror fell out of my Vectra's passenger mirror unit! I recall years ago it costing a lot to do a replacement as the whole mirror unit had to be replaced. I am wondering whether I can glue a mirror on to the black inside of the unit, even though it would not be the shape of it. I don't know if I am able to make such a 'repair', but if so...would it pass an MOT? I don't foresee any protruding sharp edge because of the way it fits.

Yes, not a problem as long as you can see in it and it's not likely to fall off.

In fact, as it's the passenger side one, you don't even need to do that as long as the driver's one and the interior one are ok - you only need 2, one of which must be on the driver's door / wing ;)

You can get replacement stick on mirrors from Halfords, if that's any help.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Loads for sale on ebay- just buy one for a vectra, stick it on and hey presto.

even if it did, mot tester has no time to go through these. they'll just check for the presence of a wing mirror. if that. so just use a stick on mirror

The fan/demister is not a testable item, so no worries.

wow, thanks I've avoided taking my car in for an mot as I aint had time to get it fixed as I thought that I would fail with the fans/demister not working. I also get a coolant warning message on dash but I doubt that would affect the mot either. Thanks

btw my mot expired but I haven't drove my car, so need to get it booked in pronto and thought I had to get at least the demister fixed first.

    I'll check out that link

Worth bearing in mind that you might well get pulled if you drive around with a badly steamed up windscreen :)

Get the demister fixed ASAP anyway....you'll get pulled by the police if you're misted up.
You'll be OK with the coolant light...mine is stuck lit because the float is broken in the overflow tank but the car passed last week.
The changes to the MOT that are now effective cover the RED dashboard lights which cover items of vehicle/passenger safety. Lights which mean you shouldn't be driving the car.
The orange lights are advisory and mean that continuing to drive MAY cause damage to the engine or other component and lead to breakdown

If your demister is not working and a coolant light is on is your water low as that will not give you any heat and put the warning light on
