Definitely a bucket shop. You may receive the shares, but by that time, they will have stopped supporting the price of the stock and there won't be any buyers. The shares, unfortunately, will be impossible to sell.

This is for the fraud squad.

Hello Alertme, I too have been involved in this. I bought £1595 shares in Sunrise Energy to then be told that I need to buy shares in Avitech Life Sciences. I feel trapped by this and am not sure what to do next. I had doubts from the begininng but decided to go ahead anyway. (It seems like a bad decision) The company name was Asscociates Financial Advisors which was different to the one you have quoted. I will check them out with the FSA on Monday. Have you any updates from your last note below? It is good to dicuss this with somenone in the same situation. Thank god I read this before I went ahead and spent more money.

    Hi tmcat,

You are not the only one who has bought Sunrise and Avitech shares through Associates Financial Advisors. I have bought them last year in May and still have not seen any profit. What about you?

    Thanks

The company name appears on this list of dodgy overseas companies on the FSA site - http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/Doing/Regulated/Law/Alerts/overseas.shtml which is probably not a good sign.
  • Hi,

Thanks for your response. They were added on the list of unauthorized firms in December, long after I bought my shares :-(. I am trying to get in touch with people that bought shares from them as well to find out what happened to their investment
  • I purchased Avitech shares in March 2007 and have watched the price fall from $7..to$2.Now a company called Colebrooke Management Holdings in Bern, switzerland want to buy them on behalf of a nameless client (offering approx $11) They say an Escrow company could be used to transfer funds, stating that I would not need to pay anything up-front.

    Anyone care to comment?

    It's a follow-up scam. Avoid it.
  • Thanks for your advice Cheerfulcat, do you think the AVLF shares are worth anything ?

I'm afraid not, pjrossiter. Trading in AVLF seems to have been suspended in December of last year - announcement here. Note that
The Commission is of the opinion that the public interest and
the protection of investors require a suspension of trading in
the securities of the above-listed company.

    Sorry.
  • I too brought shares in AVLF and wanted to off load them this Month after having them for 2 years. After finding out that trading had ceased last December this is now looking highly unlikely. Can anyone give me some advise
I already own 2500 shares in Avitech (code - avlf) which I have held for nearly 1 year. They are 'S' regulated shares which means they can't be sold for 1 year after purchase. They are currently traded in Europe on the Frankfurt S/Exch (code - RQE) - latest price 7.7 euro (approx $10) - Bloomberg.com

I have been approached by a Canadian agent for the company with an offer of top up shares at $1 direct from the company - offer closes April 25.Have contacted the company direct and the offer seems genuine - also, company officials on their website match those on my share certificate.

This all seems too good to be true. Is it? Why would they do this? Is it a scam? Help!
  • Hi, I have been approached with the similar offer $20 per share for Avitech but by a different company. Have you rejected the offer? Is it another scam? Any advice will be appreciated, thanks
