In fact I don't know why an isolator switch between the meter and the CU is not standard practice.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Because they cost money and mean the initial installation would take longer.
I'm sure they don't cost much more than a tenner though, and it makes life so much easier in the long run, and is a much safer way to cut off before the CU, rather than ripping out a fuse in the meter which seems to be the conventional way.0
