Consumer Care Direct

Has anybody had experience with Consumer Care Direct? On the surface, it seems the financial savings they say can be gleaned from membership of their club seem too good to be true. Are they safe and reliable, after all, forking out £199 for membership does seem a mite high. Appreciate any feedback anybody can give.

I signed up a few months ago and have already saved more than it cost me. The fee they charged me was £49 as they didn't believe I could gain masses of savings. They then proceeded to save me £30 per week on my gas and electric, sent me a free will kit (which I must admit is something myself and my hubby hadn't got round to since we got married because of the cost) and I have saved money on flights to Majorca and gift vouchers for the children so far! Definitely been worth my investment. I contacted my account manager last week and they are setting up life insurance for me and the hubby too!
Personally I have had no problems and have referred friends too who have been happy. My suggestion is if you have a problem speak to a manager, although I am hoping that never happens.0 -
The co. appears to have been formed about 6 months ago. If it's gone & without assets in the next 6 months the "guarantee" to refund you if you haven't saved double your membership fee will be worth little
If something sounds too good to be true it usually is & whether they are doing (or even able to do) anything you can't do for yourself by shopping around is debatable but the choice is yours

Their 7 day cancellation is useless. They claim to say in their recorded tel con that they make clear that "administration costs" will be deducted from my fee which may result in no monies being returned. I am unaware of this but they will not send me a copy of their recording because it would violate my data protection. (Rubbish). They will use any means to not allow cancellation. An American firm with an American attitude to trading standards. Told me on the phone that I could present their card at checkout in Morrisons to receive a 4% discount but that was a lie (recorded). The only means to obtain a discount is by clicking on the Morrisons website and buying a £10 voucher for £9.60 and then, once received, taking it to Morrisons. This is too inconvenient a procedure to save 40 pence. You have to do this every time. Judging from my many conversations with them I believe it to be a scam. Avoid like the plague!!!0

I thought I was being really sensible but was also caught by the "you agreed verbally, as proven by our recording, to an administration charge being levied in the event of cancellation" Luckily for me I can cope with losing the £69 I spent. Worth noting that the 'Welcome pack' apparently costs £40 and they also charge for the time spent sorting out any complaints....... their time spent came to over £50!! no mention of the time I wasted talking to them.0

Absolute rubbish. The company is actually EBS Marketing. Reduced the 'membership' to £29.99, which I considered a small amount to throw away if they turned out to be what I thought - conmen. Anyway, after being offered a will (which I specifically said I didn't want) and a life assurance review (ditto) and a reduction in utilities only by changing company (ditto), I requested a refund under the distance selling rules, which Matthew Colderlay actually stated was allowed within the 7 day cooling off period in the initial phone call. Needless to say, they said the 'services' already provided precluded me from taking that avenue. I contacted my bank and explained what had happened and they credited me the amount of £29.99 (Firstdirect). So, nothing good to say about CCD, or EBS, but lots of praise for Firstdirect. Never signed up to a cold call up to that point and will never do it in the future.0

The energy switch and the savings on my BT have made a huge difference. I would like thank the girls for providing me with a savings letter as I have very poor eyesight and I struggle with the computer. Would recommend to anyone in my situation.0

and how long have you worked at ConsumerCareDirect aka EBS Marketing. I used to work there - perhaps I know you?I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0

Don't touch them, my father had a bad experience of the hard sell and lost £60 which they refused to refund even though he changed his mind within the hour. I don't believe they don't offer anything you can't find on the MSE site and their target market appears to be elderly and vulnerable people. There'll be another post on here any minute refuting my claims and saying how fantastic they are but I have reported them to my local trading standards.0

this post has spam all over itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
