iPad Mini syncing Issues

hi All,
I have managed to sync my Itunes Library, (albums not purchased on itunes) intot he 'Music' app on my ipad mini. I can play these tunes through my ipad, when my laptop is on, but wen I close Itunes, it says another user is using the account, do i still want to quit, to which I say yes. On doing this, i can no longer play the music on the ipad?!?
I mentioned it to someone in work, they said it sounds like my ipad is still wirelessly connecting to itunes on my laptop (or trying to) when my laptop and itunes are turned off?
the other issue, is when I turn off completely my ipad, this then wipes off all the music (3 times and counting now)
Is there anyway that i can stop this from happening, so I can still listen to my music through the music app on my ipad?
I have done a full restore of my ipad yesterday, as suggested by a member of the Apple team in store.
i look forward to any suggestions that would work, as I would love to listen to music on the ipad but not through wi-fi or wireless communications, when i go away.
cheers
Donna
