Should I reinstall Windows?

Hi,

The three USB ports on my laptop are broken (two are physically broken, the third looks OK, but has suddenly stopped working). The laptop is about 18 months old from Novatech and I chatted with a Novatech techie guy this morning to find out what I should do - I need at least one USB port! He suggested a reinstall of Windows to hopefully get the last USB port working again. He said this might also improve the speed of my laptop - it's been running slowly for a while now. Anyway, so I've got the Windows disk, which I guess I'd use to do the reinstall; but I'm worried in case a reinstall might mean I'd lose some data or programs. Was hoping someone might be able to advise?

Many thanks!

back up all your data in any case.
no matter which way you do it, either repair or a reinstall, always back up data first.
    Get some gorm.
