Car insurance for 4-5 months - Cheapest option

Hi All,

So I'm leaving the country for a long time in early August. My car insurance expires on 21st April. I need to insure my car for four months, what's the cheapest option to do this? I've got quotes from temp insurer's but their monthly charge is half the cost of an annual premium!

Any help / advice would be appreciated.

Probably cheapest to buy an annual policy and take a hit by cancelling mid term but obviously check all the fees etc that apply for doing this first.

Most add ons (Legal Expenses, Breakdown etc) get no refund/ are payable in full once outside of the cooling off period so only add these if you want them knowing you will be paying for 12 months cover

You need to balance the quote with the cancellation charges.

Do they charge a pro-rata price or a short term insurance rate?
