20p a mile for attending an appointment at the Job Centre???

I agree that's just not fair!

Surely everyone should be offered a free car when they sign on and free petrol on demand?

Oh and a permit giving free parking in any council car park.

That's the least you should expect for a fortnightly inconvenience.

And the people turning up every day get more you say?? How can that be right??

I feel for you OP, I really do.

1.bestpud: if you read my posts you will see that I am not the one claiming.

    "they reimburse travel expenses,
if you went by bus would you expect them to cover 'wear and tear'?
    business travel expenses are different.
you CHOSE to meet the conditions of your benefit claim by using your car. it isnt an essential thing, and so you are only reimbursed for the fuel
you dont use your car because it saves the taxpayer 80p, you use your car because it is convenient for YOU."

It's not "my" bus, the bus co includes wear and tear when setting it's fare prices.

Don't people bother to read round here?
    a. It's not my claim!!
b.The car is used, not because it's convenient, it's because there are no alternative means of transport. Are you suggesting that a diasbled person should walk 25 miles to attend an interview? .........Wait a minute, there's a stallion in the field down the road, perhaps they should use that! I'm sure the farmer won't mind, tho come to think of it he'd probably demand wear& tear + hay costs.

This seems to have stirred up a host of resentments: no wonder there's a reminder to treat newcomers nicely; if this dumping of resentments is nicely I'd hate to think what nasty is:eek::D .
