Fraud. The providers are not stupid and keep an eye out of fraudsters like yourself.
Enhanced providers are checking far more than ever before. Annuities are also an insurance product. So, get caught with fraud on those and you need to declare it with house and car insurance and any other insurance.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have always found this perverse as it rewards a bad lifestyle.
As for calling the OP a liar or immoral what if he took up smoking for a while then gave it up?.
What about genuine smokers who later give up, do they inform their pension providers.4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.0 -

It would still require fraud as you need 10 years of smoking typically. What about genuine smokers who later give up, do they inform their pension providers.

Your doctor might well know about your smoking habit or lack of one.0

... but it may be better to whinge and whine a little when going to a visit the doctor. The last thing you will want is for the doctor to write down anything that records your health status that is better than it is.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Another reason why those of us who try to lead a reasonably healthy lifestyles think that annuities are poor value (ie we have to potentially cross subsidise some of the f eckless claimants)
nb I had to elongate the penultimate word as MSE censored it !!0
