Using a letting agency with fairly bad credit record

As stated in the topic, I've got a problem with my credit file from 2008 and beyond, some of them are due to stay on until 2016 even. Everything is settled but it's not pretty in terms of how long these things stay on my file for.
Does anyone have any direct experience of a similar situation to this which they could share? For purposes of tracking my debts I do subscribe to 'Check my file' which claims that for landlords etc my credit record should be fine - but I don't know how true that is.
Are they less stringent than banks and so forth? Has anyone failed one of these recently and can share experiences please?
Thanks in advance.

Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.

If you are not bankrupt and have no CCJ's then you will be fine, since they can't see if you have late payments or defaults.0

I would never use a letting agent with a bad credit record.
There are so many poor agents, even those with apparantly good records. It's just not worth the extra risk.

G_M - poor grammar I appreciate but I was meaning to say that I'm the one with the bad credit record, not the agent. The question is related to whether or not I would fail a credit check.
Apologies for not being more clear.Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.0
