Unable to pay cash for goods in currys....

I have been trying to buy a product from Currys that is not in stock in my city and the nearest is 70 miles away. They have flatly refused to ship it to a store in Norwich for collection and payment in cash (I have vouchers), even though it costs £100 and therefore is available for free delivery to my house. I am looking for a way around this apparent lack of business flexibility.

The product is Bose speakers, and are not available for reserve and collect for some reason.

The best bet seems to be order it to store, paying on a credit card, and then ask for an immediate refund when collecting from the shop, which would enable me to buy the product with the vouchers/cash. However my main worry is that currys, for some reason, would not be able to sell the item as it had only just been returned or something, or that policy was to send all returned goods to a warehouse etc. Does anyone know if this is the case? I can't seem to get them on the phone and their customer service email is taking forever...

Could you not pay in vouchers at your local branch and have it delivered to your house?

They should be able to find a way to make it work.

Currys' policy is that if the item is not in stock in store, they can place an order on the website on your behalf and have it either delivered to your house, or the store (dependent on product). There are other routes to get around this - but these are legacy ones, the website is meant to be *the* solution to out-of-stock items.

The website only accepts credit or debit cards - not gift cards, vouchers or cash.

You could certainly try your plan - in theory it would work but they could potentially refuse to sell it back to you (although this is unlikely).

    What store was this in?
Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.

Yes I in theory don't see a problem with giving the Currys shop in Norwich the vouchers and then asking them to order the products to be sent to my house. The only thing is I'm in Spain for the next month and these speakers are for my dad's birthday next week, so my sister (16 years old) has the vouchers, and has already been to the shop to try to get them. I would rather not make her go back to the shop if I'm not 100% that she has a viable way of making the order.

I will email her with the options and see what she feels comfortable doing. I've never had to think so hard to try and buy something before in my life!

Amazing, only CurrysPCworld could come up with vouchers that are not redeemable online. What a spectacular own-goal.

We had something similar on the Friday just before Christmas, Currys were showing that if you paid for a Nexus 7 it'd be delivered to your local branch the day after including Saturdays. We had cash as it had been given as a gift so we went to the branch and explained our predicament to the sales assistant and asked if we could order one. They said no, I could only place the order online and pay by card. No end of complaining and moaning would allow me to give them £200! In times like this you think a shop would have ripped my hand off for it...

In the end we popped into Tesco for something else on the way home and I took a quick look but even they we're showing as out of stock. I asked the sales assistant and she said that the delivery had just come in and she was sure she'd seen one. Low and behold they did!! So kudos to Tesco and shame on you Currys!!
