Retrieving credit balance from EON
Options
Does anyone know if it is EON's policy to not refund your credit balance? We have been told we cannot have the £247 we are in credit by. I know other people who have been able to get their money back but this was sometime ago. If we are in credit now the winter has gone, we will be in more credit after the summer.

Have you supplied meter readings and have these generated a post-winter bill?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Yes, the meters were read and the recent bill came through and said we were in credit by £247. We asked if the money could be credited to us but they said it wasn't their policy to do this. Surely at least they would consider reducing the monthly direct debit? I would prefer the money to be sitting in my account rather than theirs though!0

Hi bluegaz77
Provided the account is billed up to date to accurate meter readings, any credit balance at this point can be refunded.
Sounds like this is the case with you, so you're certainly entitled to have the money back.
With Direct Debits, we aim to achieve as near to a zero balance as possible by the annual review. At this review, any credit balance over a fiver is automatically refunded.
Depending on the date of your annual review, the account will either have a debit or credit balance. We do, therefore, need to make you aware that refunding the balance may affect your monthly payments or lead to a debit balance building up.
I'm sorry the advisor you spoke to didn't refund the money due. I would ask again or, alternatively, drop an email to the address in my Profile. I'll be happy to take a look.
