Insurance rejection advice

Hi Guys,

To cut a long story short I was rejected at the beginning of the year for life cover as I had not had medical examination for symptoms that I mentioned on the form.

I was seeing a chiropractor at the time and the symptoms were alleviating. Upon rejection from the insurer, I went to my GP and was advised after tests that I have a vitamin deficiency and have been given high dose vitamins to resolve this.

What I am not sure about is how to proceed with this now. If I apply for another policy I will need to declare that I was previously rejected so should I be going back to the previous company and sorting it out there?

In the meantime if I need to get travel insurance/home insurance etc do I have to declare rejection or is it only when it's a medically underwritten policy I.e. travel but not home.

I am finding it hard to fully gather the Implications of this as apart from a lack of sunshine, there is nothing actually wrong with me..

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Can you explain exactly what you mean by this?

You applied for life cover, they requested you undergo a medical examination, which you failed to attend, then you were "declined?" Life cover alone? Any other benefit, such as critical illness cover or income protection?

What form did this decline take?

Would you please fully explain exactly what happened and use the words used in letters from the insurer.

    Hi King,

Apologies for the delay in this reply.

    So to clarify the situation.

I was undergoing chiropractic treatment for some mild discomfort in my legs.

I honestly answered the insurance forms regarding pain/cramping etc and the resulting letter from the underwriters requested details of investigations etc.

I notified that i was under the care of a registered chiropractor, things were getting better and that i did not deem it necessary to consult my physician at this time.

They rejected the application stating an undiagnosed condition although they did not request me to visit my physician.

I have since been diagnosed with a vitamin/mineral deficiency and medicated accordingly and my symptoms have improved considerable and continue to do so.

Long and short is there is nothing medically wrong with me that would warrant and insurance refusal.

    Did i mess up here?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.
