Freeview Problems

I was watching ITV3 through a freeview box connected to my old TV with no problems until about 15 minutes ago. It then hung with the same picture and no sound. I tried to change channels on the freeview box and it came up with no signal. I tried to re-tune it to no avail. I then checked a different TV with a freeview receiver built in and I'm not getting any signal on that either. Does anyone know if there are any problems with freeview. I live in the Bolton area if that's any help.

I've had that happen with my FreeSat tv a couple of times, but only in extreme weather. When we had that snow but a couple of days later it was fine.

Is your aerial still aligned and attached as it should be?

It all looks ok from ground level. I'm not good with heights so sadly I can't get on the roof to check.

There are changes due for the Winter Hill transmitter and local repeaters which is presumably where you get your signal from, although they are not due until 10th April ...

... but perhaps they have been doing some preparatory experimentation that has affected the signal.

Have you tried checking with neighbours to see if they are similarly affected?

I hadn't thought of checking with next door. I'll do that once their car re-appears.

Thanks for the advice. After checking with the neighbours and finding their TV ok, I went back and double checked all our TVs and found one that worked. Turns out it was the ariel booster. The connector from the main ariel had come loose, even though I thought I'd checked that last night.

Glad you got it sorted out. Don't forget the transmitter changes I pointed out. You will probably need to retune your Freeview receivers on the 10th April. ;)

We live in the North West and there have been a few signal interruptions with our Freeview box.

As oblivian says, the Winter Hill transmitter changes could be causing some of the disruption.
