What are MFPs like for sending faxes?

Sorry for posting about this again, after only a couple of days, but I think I'm narrowing things down.

If I used a standard MFP to send a fax, e.g. from Canon, would the quality of the sent faxes be as good as with a dedicated fax machine?

Also, does printing with inkjet cartridges make a difference?

Fax quality is very poor anyway, so you won't tell the difference.
That's assuming that you can still find someone to send faxes to and from...

It's for faxing to India - places where there isn't any internet.

A MFP scanner will be a lot better than the scanner in a dedicated fax machine so no problem there - and a lot of dedicated fax machines were plain paper inkjet
