Mac - joining movie clips and doing a 'window in window'

Hi all ive just bought an in car dvr and I want to splice the clips it makes (it does them in 5 min chunks) together and I want to add a window in the corner to show the footage from the lower res rear camera
Can I do this in imovie? if not how? (Freeware preffered I don't want anything complex)

You can do it in iMovie.
Turn on Advanced tools from the preferences menu.
Now when you drag a clip over an existing clip in the project you will have the picture in picture option.0
