1. Wyke Farms Mature Cheddar, 270g pack. A big sign, saying "£2, 2 for £3", above the shelves. So, I bought two packs. I've just checked the receipt (Yes, I didn't do so in store. Do as I say, not as I do.) and I've been charged £2 each.

2. Peter's "Cornish" pasty. 50p each. It was dire. All the warning signs were there: crimped over the top, carrot as an ingredient and made in Wales. Avoid.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I have been fortunate to experience the real thing (or "proper job").

Rather than complain to Peter's and run the risk of getting a voucher for more of the same, I've e-mailed the Cornish Pasty Association about the possible infringement of the Protected Geographical Indication status. Revenge (unlike a Peter's pasty) is a dish best eaten cold.

I went there in passing, as I was in mid-Devon/Somerset at the time. Of course, the one time I don't check, there's a problem.

I've e-mailed the head office customer service people.

I suspect that you may be jesting.

A Black Forest gateaux can be made anywhere. The name is not a Protected Geographical Indication. The name comes from the colourless cherry brandy, called “Black Forest cherry water” (Schwarzwälder Kirschwasser), which is traditionally used to flavour it. In Germany, it only needs to contain this to be legally sold as a Black Forest gateau.

Cornish pasties have had Protected Geographical Indication status since 2011. However, there are evidently seven food companies outside Cornwall (and Peter's may be one of these), who have a three-year transitional period in which to stop selling their pasties as "Cornish" ones.

He is, he bought it, NOT brought it.

    Update.

The CPA have e-mailed back. Peter's evidently can't be one of the seven firms with the three-year transitional period, as they've referred their mis-selling of the product as a "Cornish" pasty to the relevant Trading Standards department.

I haven't had a reply from ASDA yet, but I noticed that the sign above the same cheese in Bristol, Patchway said "£2" on both sides. So it looks like a local signage error, which lead me to believe that there was an offer when, in fact, there wasn't.

I'm not sure you can blame Asda for the pasty fiasco. Asda exists to sell shite, doesn't it?

I don't. I never said I did. The issue with ASDA is the signage and charging of the cheese.

But the signs may still be up because the promotion now might work.

Sometimes promotions don't trigger, they get reported then work the next day.

True. But see my post above about ASDA Patchway having only "£2" signs yesterday.

Of course, these could be incorrect and Taunton's signs be correct.

However, as this concurs with what I was charged at Taunton, I'm presuming that this is correct and that someone in Taunton didn't change the "2 for £3" sign from whatever was on the shelves before the cheese.

Anyway, the ball is in ASDA's court.

I could kick myself for not checking at the time, when I could've shown them the signs.
