Item bought On Ebay

I purchased a Sony Minidisc recorder from a private seller on ebay. unfortunately the item did not work, I contacted the seller by email and told him what was wrong & he said he would put a claim through Parcel force and would email me any updates.Almost 2 months later & 13 emails later I receive an email from the seller saying Parcel force had refunded him and he would refund me the next day. I have now received a new email
I was about to issue you a refund and noticed that you have feedback where you have done this before (Amplifier Item 111012525510). Furthermore, you left him negative feedback even after a full refund. In keeping with eBay rules, please return the item to me at your cost. I will then issue a refund if the faults are as described and the unit has not been tampered with (remember I have a video of the unit pre-shipping). Ensure you get proof of postage before returning the item in its original packaging.

Why should I have to pay postage and considering Parcel force have refunded him how can he demand return of the goods & threaten with the various stipulations

Because ebay/paypal will tell you to send the item back to get a refund.

The seller is thinking why should you get to keep the item and have a refund because you say its faulty.

If you did not raise a case with Ebay or Paypal you will have to depend on the goodwill of the seller as the 45 days are past to raise a Paypal case and 60 days to leave feedback on Ebay.
