Bra Straps slipping down

I have been measured for a bra which is 38 G but this and all my bras I have the annoying habit of the straps slipping down my shoulders. I have got a thing that holds them together at the back but there is no way I can fix it on by myself. Can anyone suggest an answer to this problem.

Basically, different bras. Sorry! Size, as they say, isn't everything. Or at least cup size.
I have the same problem, caused by narrow, sloping shoulders. I look for styles where the straps are set closer together at the front and that works. It does mean some popular types don't work for me, but that's life.
I did buy one from M&S that has a silicone strip under the strap which makes it grippy; that's brilliant. It might be possible to DIY that but I haven't tried.
Got one of those "racer-back" adaptors myself, but unfortunately don't have the necessary lady's maid to help me dress... nor am I a contortionist! Good idea, impossible in use.
Good luck with it.0 -
Then you either have been measured wrongly or they have not fitted a correct bra. When fitted for a bra you should not feel that you are wearing it, not all styles suit as smileygill has stated. Because of the problems I have with my left hand/arm. I step into my bra and pull it up like a pair of pants. I haven't seen the things you mention, but wondered if putting it on that way would help you?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

go somewhere else and get re measured.0

I'd agree- sounds like either the measurements you were given were wrong (get re-measured again) or that the brand/s your buying are not suitable. If it's any help, I spend ages buying from two different affordable brands, just put up with the huge amount of extra fabric which would gape at the top of my bras, they fitted on the underside and the support was enough, just learned not to wear tight high-neck tops as a result.
I only managed to change brands when a different brand had a sale and straight away the entire fit of the bra was very different! There was no way I'd be able to afford these bras at full price but luckily in the sale they were affordable.
I'd suggest going to a different shop, a different brand and getting fitted again. Also remember that during the month you are likely to change sizes again so you may need to go back a few times to make sure things are all sorted.
Failing that, M&S sell a few safety measures in the lingerie department, everything from heel protection from uncomfortable new shoes to tapes which hide nipples. I haven't checked it fully myself but they may well sell tapes which would hold your straps in place. Only issue would be that you'd be looking for new tape each day.0 -
I agree with the other poster and recommend the Marks bras with the silicone on the inside of the straps I buy these all the time. The only problem is they only seem to do them in one style. Also make sure when wearing your bra you are only able to stretch the strap by one inch. I heard that on something like Gok Wan programme!0

My first suggestion would be to go and get re-measured, Bravissimo are great if you have one nearby, department stores not so great, I've never been given the right size in M&S or Debenhams. I have an independent lingerie store in the small town where I live and the lady in there doesn't even bother with a tape measure, she can tell your size just by looking at you and the bra you're wearing.
Are the bras you have comfortable apart from the strap problem? Does it feel like you don't have a bra on?
Are you very petite? If yes then the straps may simply be too long for your body.
If the answer to the above questions is yes then I'd suggest some tit tape under the straps. I bought a roll fairly cheaply from Superdrug (I think). It's very effective and comfortable to wear.0 -
My bras slip down my shoulders too. Even properly fitting and comfortable bras slip over my shoulders too no matter how many times i adjust the straps.
I never had the problem with nursing bras funnily enough ( i think its the extra wide straps) but i'll be damned if i'm going to wear maternity/nursing bras. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I have the same problem too. Got measured in Bravissimo and the bra fits perfectly, except my shoulders are small in comparison to the rest of me! I have to keep tightening them up, one of my bras doesn't tighten up as much as I'd like though. I've given up trying to adjust them!0
