Tell the estate agent that you are fully aware this is a ridiculous demand, they need to sort out their client, you will be on hold until he stops playing silly games. No idea why the estate agent is speaking to your solicitor, they work for the vendor not you, don't let them stick their beak into your business.

It's the biggest purchase of your life by a mile, when you are spending tens of thousands of pounds, you need to give your solicitor time to check everything, you read through everything, you have all the right surveys and inspections done. That cannot happen in three weeks: marry in haste repent at leisure.

  • What was the reason given for the rush? Being given a tight deadline with no explanation, plus his unsolicited insistence on how honest he is, isn't a great combination!

Thanks for your reply, the reason given was because he has decided he is emigrating to Australia, which he hasn't mentioned beforehand. I did think that it was a little suspicious on the first viewing how he was saying how he was a Christian man and that he is very honest etc.

I totally agree I think we will just inform the estate agent that it is ridiculous time frame and that we will be leaving the sale. It will be hard but I do not want to get half way through the process and his deadline arrive and then he pull out of the sale. Thanks for your reply.

The problem is you can't tell the difference.

A very small poprtion of the population do think like this.

And then there are people who take advantage of that
