Jockettuk - "I could have taken my ex husband to the cleaners so to speak...."
It's no wonder that guys like me have no confidence in becoming a father. That sentence says it all.
I am not a guy who would walk away from his children, if he had them. But I am a guy who daren't have children because of this mentality.
This isn't a joke post. I am serious. There is no point in me having children if that's what's in store. I know circumstances are different in each situation but time after time I keep hearing of women who want to take everything a guy has.
Yes, he has a responsibilty. Yes, he should be made to pay for his children. Yes, there are some rotten guys out there who don't care about their children.
There are guys out there, like me, who just can't bring a child into the world in this society.
For "fear of being taken to the cleaners" if it all breaks down in the future. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
'But I chose not to'
It's not really fair to quote someone out of context Daveboy..................IMO your post makes it appear that the person you quoted did take him to the cleaners and that's not so.
Your beef should be with the system that allows it not women in particular :-/...........women have been left without their children too (though rarely) and left with no money/property either....................... :-/
Just a thought but have you thought about starting a thread in discussions about this subject ,as you feel strongly about it,it could be very interesting and you might find people agree with you or find some points , reasons, why it seems the woman always wins.........and the man risks all or prehaps it's not really like that....just percieved that way :-/
Would be interesting to lots of posters I suspect0
