So dissapointed with Legoland :(

I won a competition with 2 days at Legoland - we went on thurs and yesterday...

Thursday we lasted till 1pm, it was bitter cold and snowed all day, so we decided to go back yesterday and have a good go at it - while we were there thurs my 6 year old hurt his foot on the driver training as he hadnt been strapped in properly.. anyhow

we arrived yesterday - within an hour i had been effectively told by a very young member of staff i couldnt take 2 kids onto a ride at once, perhaps i should 'leave one alone' while i took the other - another parent later told me about the parent swap they do.

I wasn't impressed, so off i went to complain. was pacified with a free family lunch, chose the duplo family buffet. Now this should have cost us £45 for a family of 5 - the only choice of drinks was fizzy pop, there was soup, a tiny salad bar, nuggets, fish fingers, mini sausages, chips, gammon, chicken curry, veg curry and veg lasagne, and THAT was it - had i paid £45 for all of us i would have been fuming! There wasn't even a dessert for the kids, or the option of water to drink!

the park itself was very tired, looked uncared for, very rundown - on the laser raiders ride my sons gun didnt work, on the fire engine ride his hose didn't work. The final straw was when the machine took my money as I tried to pay for parking!

All in all, not a good experience of Legoland for us, i would not return, and would not recommend it!

Thats such a shame :( I remember going to legoland as a child and having an amazing time although that must have been 20ish years ago! On the plus side - at least it wasn't a waste of £! I thought it was owned by the same people as alton towers - would have expected it to be good - thanks for the insight!

It is such a shame that you did not enjoy your days there. We have Merlin passes and have always enjoyed our days out in Legoland. I always find it better to go in poor weather as there are less queues for rides and can get so much more done. I find the food there expensive and not that good (we get a discount with our Merlin pass) so tend to stop off on the way and pick up some sandwiches and snacks from Tesco.

We've been to Legoland twice, and enjoyed it both times. The last time was a couple of years ago though. We found it mucvh better than the Lego place at the Trafford Centre, which was a waste of money.
  • Awww that's a shame you didn't enjoy it. We have Merlin tickets too and also really enjoy our days at Legoland, and find out of all the theme parks the staff are the most helpful there. I agree the food is expensive though and also not very good so we bring a pack up.

About the food not being funny with you but places like this will always try and rip you off on the food that's why it is always recommended to take your own packed lunches but thank you for the warning as I was planning on taking my kids to legoland and by your brief review I may think again as 200 miles is a long drive to be disappointed

I've never had a problem at legoland?

We usually eat in the pasta/pizza restaurant down at Lego City.

First thing that crossed my mind though........Did you not check what the duplo buffet consisted of before you chose it?

She didn't pay - it was a free lunch. On a trip that they won.

  • yes, such a shame you didn't enjoy it, we've been loads of times and have always had a really great day - we've only stopped going because the kids are too big and want more thrills. Give it another go when the weather's better.
  • We went to Legoland on Saturday and had a great day so people reading this dont be put off. It may need a lick of paint in some places but its certainly not run down.

I have also found the staff really helpful. Yes the food is your usual theme park food so take a packed lunch. Anyone going soon have a great day out and how lucky that the OP won the competition and did not pay for two days at Legoland.
